Joe White
Senior Account Director
1995-1996; 2009-present
Joe brings to the agency more than 23 years of public relations and marketing experience. His career began in newspaper reporting and corporate communications, and eventually led to marketing and public relations.
He and agency president Dave Silbar first met in 1990 as reporters for a Chicago suburban community newspaper chain. Following positions with Pioneer Press and the Daily Herald, Joe worked in corporate communications for Underwriters Laboratories. He briefly reunited with Dave at his Dad’s firm, Merton G. Silbar Public Relations, before taking a PR position at Loyola University Chicago.
Joe moved to a combined PR/marketing role for Alliant Credit Union two years later, where he headed its civic affairs program. He was selected to lead a youth financial literacy program in local schools, where he presented the curriculum “Banking on Our Future.” His efforts earned him a “Co-Volunteer of the Year” Award in 2004 from non-profit financial literacy group Operation HOPE.
While varied, his career path has allowed him a broader perspective into the dynamic between the needs of businesses and the communities they serve. The constant throughout has been Joe’s ability to write effectively and work with the media. His work has appeared in a variety of magazines and journals.
Joe’s agency clients have included: Chicago-based Jane Addams Hull House Association; the Grand Food Center (a small grocery chain on Chicago’s North Shore); the Pittsfield Building (a historic, downtown Chicago landmark); and Midtown Athletic Club locations in the suburbs of Kansas City, Atlanta and Miami.
Joe’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in political science from Millikin University, and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his MBA in marketing from Loyola University Chicago in 2005.
He and his wife, Christine, live in Des Plaines.
